ATONAL & PANTONAL STRUCTURES:

Are terms usually associated with twelve-tone processes and whether simple or compound passages, are constructed with upto any 12 of the 12 chromatic tones. Forms of serialism wherein, atonal (no tonal centres) and pantonal (each tone in the structure has the status of tonal centre) melodic like structures completely abandon the key-centred structure of diatonic scales and modes and are by nature, void of a recognisable keynote or a definable key. Omit the roots from superimposed scales and or avoid using the third, forth and fifth intervals in melodic like structures. Try to avoid traditional tonal concepts by panning or turning the tonality of tones away from keyed steps.
