Some History

Born 3.30am at Crown Street Hospital - Sydney - Australia On the 7th March 1957.

Son of "Norman H. Burgess" & "Valerie M. Burgess" (Spaulding/Hrosc). Moved around a lot during child hood because of my Dad's "War Neurosis"  (from WII -  fought the Japanese over in "Java", "Borneo" & "Papua New Guinea"). He was in a mortar crew and saw a lot of his mates get blown to pieces, He enlisted at the age of fifteen, way too young to see this sort of thing, even at the age of 18, this sot of experience is far too horrifying.

The places I have lived - in order

N.S.W -:

"Parramatta" - born here, lived above a butcher shop to the age of Four. Remember Dad picking me up on two  different occasions because of earth tremors, also got bitten severely by a Red Back Spider which I was rolling between my fingers at the age of three - nearly died from this. Still have quite a few memories from living here, I could still draw a floor plan of our Flat.

"Casula" - Lots of memories here - Parents first New House - First day school (Casula Primary), Didn't like school much and remember wagging one time when I was Five. This was where Dad's War Neurosis started to take it's toll with his heavy drinking and physical abuse..

"Coledale" - Our first coastal home, got to know the sea, learnt how to swim, went to Coledale Primary School. Lots of fun here with the beach so close, my brother & I did a lot of exploring along the coast, especially up towards and past "Scarborough" up to "Coal Cliff". Lots of caves formed by all the boulders along this rugged part of the coast line. Smoked our first cigarettes here in one of the caves we claimed as ours. Joined the Austinmer Scout group as a Cub Scout.

"Como" - Stayed here with my Aunty Marie and my cousins while Mum was in hospital with a bad pregnancy (my youngest Brother "Garry Wayne Burgess" only lived a short time- "Rest in peace Garry).

"Huskisson" - Stayed here with my Aunty Dorothy & Uncle Bob (my favourite Aunty & Uncle) - My brother Brian & I stayed here for a few months while Mum recuperated and rested after the loss of Garry,  We had a great time here.

"Austinmer" - This town is south of "Coledale"- the next town, Lived over another shop, next door to a church. Went to "Austinmer" Public Primary School, I learnt a lot of new things here. I got promoted from a Cub Scout to a Scout in the "Austinmer Scout Group" and started to go on a lot of camping trips. Saw the supposed landing of Apollo 11 on the moon here and became interested in Chemistry, Medicine &  Astronomy. My interest in Music began to occupy my thoughts, lots of good songs came out during this era.
